Adobe Systems - Overview:
Adobe is a leading software company, with headquarters in San Jose, CA. They are publically traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol ADBE. Adobe products include industry leading software, such as Photoshop, as well as leading technologies, such as Portable Documnet Format (PDF). They also sell popular server software, such as ColdFusion. Adobe's popular development tools include Dreamweaver and Flash. The company has approximately 7,000 employees worldwide. Adobe's revenues, which have steadily climbed each year, topped the $3 Billion mark in 2007.
Adobe Systems Company History:
Adobe was founded in 1982 by John Warnock and Charles Geschke. The founders had left Xerox PARCand established the company to develop and sell a page description language caled Postscript, which was later licensed by Apple Computer and helped revolutionize the desktop publishing industry. As the company grew and expanded their software, web development tools and publishing tools groups, they opened offices around the world. Adobe's market penetration is truly worldwide, with more than half of their revenues generated outside the United States.

The company treats its employees well - of the Adobe employees I have met, I do not typically hear any grumbling. While I am sure it depends on the individual and the group, overall Adobe employees are a hard working group that is rewarded well and treated with respect. Adobe is often named one of the "top places to work" - not just in the United States, but in Canada and Germany as well!
Compensation Information for Adobe Systems:
Adobe employees are well compensated. In addition to competitive base salaries, employees are awarded up to a 10 percent profit sharing bonus paid quarterly, based on Adobe's financial performance. They may be eligible for other bonuses as well. Stock purchase and options are standared perks (the amount depends on seniority and level). In addition to the normal health and wellness benefits, Adobe employees have access to Pet insurance, backup child or elder care assistance and a group legal plan. PTO is a generous 2 days per month (24 days per year) plus 10 company holidays and a 3 week sabbatical after 5 years.
